To Create a DWG file to Use as a Title Block You can insert any DWG file as a title block, provided that it does not contain any unsupported objects. Use AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, or a different AutoCAD vertical product to create lines, text, images, attribute definitions, and other 2D geometry to generate your title block.  To Insert a DWG File as a Title Block 1. Under Sheet Settings, select Title Block > Insert Title Block.  2.Select the DWG file to insert as a title block.  The DWG inserts into the drawing sheet. For correct placement, make sure the WCS origin point (0,0) in the AutoCAD DWG file is the bottom right corner of your title block.  To Define Attributes in AutoCAD When you create attribute definitions in the DWG file using AutoCAD, those attributes are "picked up" by the Fusion Drawings workspace, meaning if you double-click the title block, you can populate your own title block prompts in the text fields.  1. At the command line in AutoCAD, enter the ATTDEF command. The Attribute Definition dialog box displays.  2.Add a Tag. Tags identify the location of the ...

Assemblies   Multiple Enhancements to Analyze Interference The new option in Interference Analysis dialog box, Treat subassemblies as components, lets you treat sub-assemblies as single components and ignore the interferences within the sub-assemblies. The  Interference Detected  dialog box now includes:  Information about each interference.  Interference type filtering options. Focus on the information you need to check by including only the interferences you want to see.  **Note: The Reference components filter only displays when the assembly includes an AnyCAD reference imported 3rd party file. Ignore and Un-ignore options. You can: Right-click an item and select to ignore the selected volume or ignore all interference volumes less than a selected value. Select or deselect the Ignored filter to show or hide the ignored interferences in the list. **Note: An ignored interference is displayed with a cross line. Right-click an ignored interference ...

Have you ever had an issue where Inventor isn’t working as it should or experienced any of the issue’s shown below?   ·         Unable to export AutoCAD DWG ·         Unable to launch add-in ·         Add-In commands are grayed in the ribbon ·         Dialog boxes do not appear after launching a command ·         Import/Export commands do not function ·         Program crashes when entering add-in workspace   If so, Inventor has a tool that is called the "Inventor Reset Utility" that can aid in resolving some of the issues a user might be experiencing. Click on the link below for additional information and instructions on how to use this utility. Autodesk Inventor Reset Utility

For the Inventor users who are utilizing a high resolution computer monitor such as a 4K Ultra HD monitor you will probably notice that your viewcube is very small and you would like to make it larger. Below I will step you through the process of modifying the settings that control the size of this interface element.   Step 1: Within the Tools tab select Application Options.     Step 2: Select the Display tab and choose ViewCube.  Step 3: Within the ViewCube Options underneath Display select the drop-down menu for ViewCube Size and select “Large”. Click “OK”. Step 4: Click “OK” within the Application Options.   The image below shows the results of the changes that were made in the previous steps.

For those user’s that are currently using Vault Pro 2017/Vault Workgroup 2017 I would like to share with you an add-in that is called “Autodesk Place from Vault 2017” which is a free download from the Autodesk App Store. This app allows users to directly insert a selected file from the Vault Explorer into the current open and active Inventor document. This is a great tool for those who prefer to search and identify files directly from Vault rather than using the CAD application dialogs.        Autodesk Place from Vault 2017-Additional Info

An issue that I ran across the other day using Inventor 2017 was my part file was acting like it was locked. This issue was not allowing me to edit or delete any features or sketches in my part file. In addition, only a couple of the commands in my ribbon were available and everything else was grayed out. Come to find out this has been an issue since Inventor 2015 and is currently being investigated by Autodesk for a possible cause and resolution. The good news is that there is a workaround which is shown below.     Issue: Features and Sketches unavailable   Workaround:   1.)    Close all documents.       2.)    Invoke the VBA Editor.     3.)    Within the editor under Application Project (Module1) add the following script.   Sub Test()     Dim oDoc As Document     Set oDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument     oDoc.DisabledCommandTypes = 0 End Sub     4.)    Do not close the VBA Editor. Return back to the Inventor user interface and open the document that is locked. Once the document is open go back to the VBA Editor and run the script that was pasted into Module1.      After running the script the ...

General Improvements to Measure Command Precision Visual enhancement: A check mark  now displays next to the default Measure Distance, Angle, Loop, and AreaPrecision value when you access the list for the first time in a file. Previously the check mark only displayed after you made a selection.  Inventor 2017: The checked  measure precision value now persists across sessions in all files. Select a different measure precision value to change the default measure precision value. Previously when you changed the Precision value in existing files, the change was not maintained after saving, closing, and reopening the file.    Important: When you create a new template file in any new version of Inventor (for example Inventor 2017 R2, R3, 2018, and onward) the default measure precision value must be set in both Document Settings Units tab Modeling Dimension Display fields and in the Measure Precision value dialog box.    Enhancements to Projects dialog box (not available in Inventor LT) Access to the Configure Library dialog box has been simplified from two clicks to one click. The drop-down button with only one entry has been ...

With the new Copy Design within Vault Pro 2017 iLogic rules are NOT COPIED by default. This can be resolved by setting up a new Action Rule.
