Bing Maps in 2014

For years we were all happy utilizing the Google Earth importing tools in Civil 3D. Then in Civil 3D 2013 Google Earth pulled the plug and we no longer had that ability. Autodesk Labs answered by testing out Project Basejump which allowed users to import high quality georeferenced Bing Maps images. However, that was only a beta test. In Civil 3D 2014 the ability to link to Bing Maps directly through Data Connect has been lost. Now, in the 2014 software, connecting to Bing Maps is done directly within the software. It’s a process in which you need to be connected to Autodesk 360 and utilize the commands:

  • GEOGRAPHICLOCATION
  • GEOMAP
