What is the Building Material of the Future?

Last December Autodesk’s Matt Alderton published an article in the RedShift newsletter describing Carbon Fiber as the choice material of the future. Innovations in composite materials and robotic-fabrication techniques will no doubt change the way we construct building in the future. Building such as the Research-Pavilion at University-of-Stuttgart, and others enjoy Carbon Fiber Technology.

Carbon Fiber is a “polymer comprising long, thin strands of carbon atoms bound together in a crystalline formation—each strand thinner than a human hair—it’s lighter than steel, five times stronger, and twice as stiff. As such, it’s particularly popular among manufacturers, who twist its strands together like yarn that can be woven into fabric or molded into permanent shapes”.
