Revu Reduces Overhead on Florida Projects

In a quest to deliver the industry’s most reliable steel fabrication services, Allstate Steel enlisted the help of Bluebeam Revu. The Bluebeam StrXur article “Allstate Steel” explains how the adoption of Revu was able to assist the Jacksonville, Florida-based fabrication and erection firm in targeting that goal.

For some time, Allstate Steel had been facing many of the economic hardships that architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms have been forced to deal with in recent times. In order to operate at maximum efficiency and effectiveness, the company needed to “cut down unnecessary overhead expenses, identify better ways to get work done, [and] speed up productivity across departments, including detailing, estimating and production.”

After Revu had been tested and began to be implemented throughout the company, each department “began using Revu in different ways to improve their workflow.” Detailers, for example, were able to utilize “highlighter tool, text box, cloud markup and hyperlink features to redline the contract drawings and markup changes.” After creating markup data, they could then send that data to off-site detailer associates and “import the markups, thus eliminating the cost of printing, shipping and waiting.”

Estimators at Allstate Steel could also utilize the takeoff tools in Revu to “measure and count off PDF drawings… first they [would] upload bid PDFs to a Studio session and invite other estimators, who are sometimes off site, to join the session.” All of the estimators could add markups to one copy of the same set of PDFs together in real-time. Because of the paperless, real-time aspect of Revu, collaboration, accuracy, and communication vastly improved on projects.

Since its adoption by the company, Revu has enabled Allstate Steel to eliminate its overall paper usage and related costs, save time “particularly in responding to bids,” and be rid of “the need to buy and store hefty three-ring binders for their project archives.” Projects and markups on the whole are performed electronically. PDFs are utilized in place of hefty stacks of notes and drawings, and estimators can work on proposals “in a matter of minutes, allowing Allstate to respond faster and cast a wider net.”

The Allstate Steel website describes the mission of the company as to “integrate [its] team’s passion for unrivaled quality and safety with exceptional customer service to deliver the industry’s most reliable steel fabrication services.” The company’s vision is to “lead the steel fabrication industry in safety and integrity by creating an atmosphere where employees thrive, customers receive the best service, and [its] products are delivered on time and on budget.”
