The Promise of Autodesk Construction Cloud

As Blake Douglas, Applied Software Director of Construction Services, described it in his webinar, “Up in the Cloud,” Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is a common data environment built around the 3D model and the foundation for connecting all the teams throughout the life of the project.

The promise of ACC is that it solves the issue of losing touch with the 3D project model, which has been a perennial problem for construction teams.

If you are new to 3D model-based construction workflows, start your project with Autodesk Construction Cloud.

If you are currently working on a project, wait until it is finished to switch to ACC. Switching from another platform can create confusion in your workflows.

If you start a project in one product, you will finish it in the same product.

In a typical workflow, a contractor’s virtual design and construction (VDC) department builds out the model with a wealth of information. Afterward, as the model moves downstream in the workflow, the teams for fabrication or onsite construction can lose touch with that model.

But with information becoming more important in the construction process, access to the data in the model is increasingly critical.

In order to gain access to that information, companies are beginning to adopt ACC. The platform’s combination of tools effectively work together so project teams can understand projects better using ACC. It covers the myriad collaboration needs they have during the four phases of a construction project: design, plan, build, and operate.

Autodesk Construction Cloud is a common data environment. Both BIM 360 and the Unified Platform fall under the umbrella of ACC. Three new products – Autodesk Build, Autodesk Takeoff and Autodesk BIM Collaborate/BIM Collaborate Pro – are the unified engine that empowers general contractors, specialty trades, designers, and owners to drive better business outcomes.

Effectively sitting on top of Autodesk Docs, where all of the project information resides, ACC provides construction teams with a comprehensive construction management platform – all project data in one central location.

Streamlined document management ensures team members have access to the information they need. With built-in document control, versioning and approvals, you have the ability to grant access to people, while controlling what they can see or manipulate.

The document management made possible by ACC helps simplify collaboration and enables team members to anticipate project changes. Going further, it even empowers them with data-driven insights they can use to guide decisions about improvements within their organization.

ACC, CDE, ABC . . . it’s a lot to digest. If you’d like a partner to help you decide which platform, subscription and products are right for your company and your projects, contact Applied Software today. The industry-trained BIM experts at Applied can help you get a handle on collaboration for design, plan, build, and operate.
