Scenario: You have a need to work remotely and you need to know process on getting your Autodesk software up and running.
If you have single-user software, then all you need to do is download and install the software from within your Autodesk account (I recommend the browser download method). Then you activate it in the same manner you did at the office. You sign in. This is assuming your contract manager has already assigned you the software. If not, then this should help: Managing Autodesk Desktop Subscription Single-User Licenses.
If your company runs network licenses, then you have a couple of options.
Option 1: Borrow your license from the server.
Read this to assist with the process: To view and manage a network license.
Things to remember:
- You can only borrow the license for up to 180 days.
- The license is being pulled from your network license pool.
- If you lose your computer, it crashes, or it is stolen then you are out that license until the expiration date passes.
Option 2 : Your contract manager can request a home use serial number
For every network license your company has in good standing, your contract manager can request a serial number that can be used to activate on a remote computer. For example, if your company has 10 network licenses, your contract manager can request a home-use serial number that can be used a maximum of 10 times to install on 10 separate computers.
Use this website: Request a home use license.
Things to remember:
- You are not acquiring extra licenses. This means that you can’t be using the software in the office and at home simultaneously. This is a violation of the end user license agreement.
- Your home use license expires when your Autodesk contract expires and, therefore, must be requested again the next year.
